Solar Power Without Borders is an independent organization founded in 2009 and registered in the Volunteer Registry in Brønnøysund with Org. Nr. 994 483 897. The Association was founded by Thomas Fernandes, Per Horgen and Torgeir Ulset. Today the board is represented by Chairman, Thomas Fernandes.
The Association aims to review the collection of all sorts of useful contributions from private individuals, government and industry in Norway and abroad, helping to support various projects within rural development in countries where the needs for such support exists at all times. The association will give priority to contribute to the implementation of solar energy as the primary solution but will also be open to hybrid solutions. Women and children in village communities where the primary needs such as water, health, education and cottage industries are areas where energy and focused effort is important. The Association’s work will always be independent of political and religious affiliation.
Tommy Fernandes
Has a proven track record as an entrepreneur. He runs his own business InSite International in Norway and is involved as an Independent Advisor to boards and top management of small and medium sized businesses. Besides being involved as an an investor in companies as part of international business development he also is active as a sosial entrepreneur in Africa and India. He has been associated with the Solar PV sector for a long period and has worked at REC. He has been a member of many official Norwegian international delegations and brings with him the necessary experience and expertise in the renewable energy sector.
Torgeir Ulset
Torgeir Ulset has a chemical engineering background and has worked in the field of environmental engineering and renewable energy at various technical and commercial positions throughout his career at companies like Borregaard, Elkem and REC.
He currently has the position of Commercial Director at Elkem Solar.
Per Horgen
Is an engineer with a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Sheffield University, UK. He then went on to work with large corporations in Canada and the US, such as CBC and Boeing for a number of years before returning to Norway. In the past 20 years Per Horgen has been has been active in the establishment of several new companies with international operations, primarily within the IT and data communication sector. It is worth mentioning the great success he achieved with Telepartner International with HQ in Connecticut, USA and handled business in Scandinavia, Europe and Asia from regional HQ in Oslo, Norway.
